Increasing the Number of Judges in New York: Repeal the Cap and Do the Math

 

Join us for a discussion of the City Bar’s recently issued report setting forth a new approach to assessing judicial needs. After a careful study of the judicial assessment protocols of the other 49 states, the City Bar recommends a metric based procedure for New York State. The report, among other recommendations, emphasizes the need to repeal the state’s constitutional cap on the size of the judiciary. The program presents a panel of the report’s authors who discuss the nuances of the committee’s recommendations.
