Election Protection Opportunities for Lawyers

Election Protection Opportunities for Lawyers

“We must work to ensure the integrity of the upcoming midterm elections against attempts to disenfranchise and intimidate voters or raise spurious challenges to electoral results. As in the past, we will serve as a clearinghouse for lawyers and the public to roll up their sleeves and get involved in the critical work of election protection, both here in New York and across the country.”

— Matthew Diller, President, New York City Bar Association

Pro Bono Lawyers For Election Officials and Admins

The nonpartisan Election Official Legal Defense Network (EOLDN) connects pro bono attorneys with election officials and poll workers across the country who are enduring threats, harassment, intimidation, defamation, and, in some cases, exposure to criminal penalties, for simply doing their jobs of administering fair elections. EOLDN often does not need attorneys with election law experience, although that experience can be helpful. Rather, it needs expertise in litigation, employee-side employment, First Amendment/defamation, criminal defense, and other areas of law. Attorneys who can give general guidance on legal options are also needed.

Individual attorneys can sign up with EOLDN here.

Law firms can sign up with EOLDN here.
