City Bar Statement on Supreme Court’s Ruling Striking Down Defense of Marriage Act

The New York City Bar Association applauds the Supreme Court’s decision to invalidate DOMA on Fifth Amendment grounds. We have long maintained that DOMA is unconstitutional and are pleased that same-sex married couples will now be afforded the full range of marital rights and benefits under federal law. –Bret I.
