The Attacks in Israel – Statement by New York City Bar Association President Susan J. Kohlmann

The New York City Bar Association strongly condemns the barbaric murder and maiming by Hamas of thousands of civilians in Israel who were peacefully residing in their homes and communities.

While the underlying context for these tragic events can be debated, no justifications exist for the murder of civilians, the desecration of corpses, rape, hostage-taking and the celebration of violence.

We join with other bar associations and world leaders in calling for an end to this horrific and senseless violence targeting civilians, the release of all hostages, and respect for the rule of law.
