Statement by New York City Bar Association President Roger Juan Maldonado on GENDA Passage

The New York City Bar Association applauds the State Assembly and Senate for passing protections for transgender and gender nonconforming New Yorkers among its first actions of the 2019 Legislative Session. The City Bar has long supported the Gender Expression Nondiscrimination Act (GENDA) as a key step in protecting transgender and gender non-conforming people in their employment and housing, and protecting their safety, so that they can enjoy the financial and social stability necessary to be fully recognized, integrated, productive and valued members of our communities.

About the Association
The mission of the New York City Bar Association, which was founded in 1870 and has 24,000 members, is to equip and mobilize the legal profession to practice with excellence, promote reform of the law, and uphold the rule of law and access to justice in support of a fair society and the public interest in our community, our nation, and throughout the world. www.nycbar.org
