Consider the New York City Bar Association‘s open letter to Xi, written by the organization’s president, Debra L. Raskin, and publish on July 28: It expressed her association’s “grave concern” about the treatment of China’s human rights lawyers and their allies. Its statement is far stronger than the ABA’s — but the City Bar doesn’t have an office in China.
