Letitia James Asks Congress for Stronger ‘Forever Chemical’ Regulations to Aid State Litigation

“New York Attorney General Letitia James called on Congress on Thursday to enact strict standards for a set of substances, commonly referred to as “forever chemicals,” days after federal lawmakers cut new regulations for those contaminants from an omnibus spending bill. James, speaking at the New York City Bar Association headquarters in Manhattan, said stronger standards could help states like New York pursue litigation over the contaminants, which have been linked to cancer and other health issues.”
