Input Sought on Proposed Rule for In-House Counsel

State court administrators are circulating for public comment a proposed amendment to Part 522 of the Rules of the Court of Appeals that would allow the Appellate Division departments to register as in-house counsel attorneys who are lawyers in good standing in foreign jurisdictions….The rule would be in line with recommendations from the Conference of Chief Justices and the American Bar Association. In 2010, the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association and the New York County Lawyers’ Association issued a joint report recommending that both out-of-state and foreign lawyers be allowed to register as in-house counsel in New York (NYLJ, Nov. 9, 2010).
