Senators take second shot at litigation funding transparency 

“In July 2018, the New York City Bar’s ethics committee issued an opinion finding that litigation funders’ contingent interest in legal fees, where fee-sharing between lawyers and third-party funders occurs, is unethical – despite the New York State courts having condoned such arrangements on numerous occasions. While at the time of the opinion there was no apparent call to action, the New York City Bar, which is not the regulator for the state, announced at the end of January 2019 that it had formed a working group to study the issues and practices surrounding litigation funding, co-chaired by Debra Raskin of Vladeck, Raskin & Clark and Lynn Neuner of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.”
