New York City Bar Association Hands Out Ratings to Queens DA Candidates, Supreme Court Hopefuls

“The New York City Bar Association released its candidate ratings for judicial and district attorney races around the city Monday, giving negative ratings to three candidates in noteworthy Queens races.

Republican Joe Murray, who is running for Queens District Attorney, received a “not approved” rating from the bar association.

His opponent, Democrat Melinda Katz, was rated approved. So were the Bronx and Staten Island district attorneys, who are both running unopposed for reelection.

The bar association released its ratings without comment Monday, explaining that candidates with approved ratings ‘have affirmatively demonstrated qualifications necessary for the performance of the duties of the position for which they are being considered.’”
