Report in Support of the Elephant Protection Act

SUMMARY

The Animal Law Committee (Lori A. Barrett, Chair) issued a report in support of the Elephant Protection Act, which would amend New York’s Agriculture and Markets Law to prohibit the display of elephants in any type of entertainment act, including any “exhibition, act, circus, trade show, carnival, ride, parade, race, performance or similar undertaking.” (AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums and wildlife sanctuaries would be exempt.)
