New York City Bar Announces Winners of 25th Annual Legal Services Awards
New York, June 10, 2014 – The New York City Bar Association has announced the recipients of the 25th Annual Legal Services Awards, which give recognition to attorneys and non-attorneys who provide outstanding civil legal assistance to New York’s poor. The Awards will be presented today at a reception at the Association, to which the legal services community is invited.
This year’s recipients are:
Margaret Becker, Disaster Recovery Unit, Staten Island Legal Services
Alan Canner, The Legal Aid Society, Harlem Community Law Office
Bernadette Jentsch, MFY Legal Services
Liz Markuci, Immigration Project, Volunteers of Legal Service
Leander McRae, Preserving Affordable Housing Program, Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A
This year’s Awards will be presented by Hon. Jenny Rivera, Associate Judge of the New York Court of Appeals.
The awards, which are sponsored by the City Bar’s Committee on Pro Bono and Legal Services and administered by the Legal Services Awards Committee, are endowed by a generous contribution from the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation.
