This program will provide an inside perspective on the future of affordable housing in New York City, with a focus on the City’s response to the recent migrant surge and the need to properly house the increased migrant population. Seasoned practitioners from the private and public sectors will discuss, among other topics, the City’s emergency housing efforts, available rental subsidy programs for migrants and low-income residents in general, and case studies on a recent hotel conversion and the development of a co-located shelter and residential affordable housing project with separate financing. Participants will learn about the statutory, regulatory and business considerations underlying these critical areas of affordable housing.
