This talk will cover the ethical issues presented when lawyers work remotely, whether from home, in court, or on vacation. The intersection of technology competence and professionalism will be discussed with an emphasis of how these obligations impact technology decisions and implementation. Recent ethics opinions on remote working will be covered. Ethics issues discussed will include using cloud-based software, cybersecurity recommendations, working from a jurisdiction in which you’re not licensed, and much more. You’ll learn how to ensure ethical compliance when working remotely, including how to ensure that you’re making educated decisions about choosing and using remote working tools, and how to maintain your ethical obligations when working remotely from jurisdictions in which you’re not licensed.
