Law Preview Scholarship Program
"As a first generation law student, I had no family or friends with the ability to let me know what law school truly entailed. Thanks to Law Preview, I entered law school prepared for the experience and that preparation has made a huge difference. After my first year of law school, I obtained an internship at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York where I had an amazing experience. I spent my second-year summer at an incredible firm that I will be returning to after graduation. Without Law Preview, the law school experience would have much more difficult. Not only am I grateful, I look forward to the the day where I can make a similar difference in the life and career of a law student."

The New York City Bar is pleased to offer Law Preview Scholarships to students who will be entering a New York/New Jersey law school. Scholarship recipients participate in a 6-day Law Preview law school prep course at no cost. To be eligible, applicants must be: (i) a member of a historically underrepresented group in the legal profession; and (ii) enrolled at a participating NYC area law school in the fall of 2016.
Scholarship recipients receive more than 45 hours of instruction from top law professors and attorneys who provide comprehensive previews of the following core first-year classes: Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Criminal Law, Property, Torts and Legal Research & Writing. Additionally, students attend workshops that teach academic strategies, including case briefing, time-management, outlining, and exam-taking techniques. Scholarship recipients also receive free academic support resources and study aids throughout law school from BARBRI.
In addition to the Law Preview prep course, scholarship recipients receive an attorney mentor through the PALS Program and become law student members of the New York City Bar Association.
In the scholarship program’s first three years, more than 50 students have been provided with scholarships.
We invite you to support the Law Preview Scholarship Program to help prepare diverse New York City law students and help prepare them to become leaders in the profession.
