15th Annual Lawyer Assistance Committee Volunteer Appreciation Celebration

With Special Guest Rep. Jamie Raskin and Honoring Roger Juan Maldonado

The Lawyers Assistance Committee of the New York City Bar Association will host its 15th annual Volunteer Appreciation Celebration on May 20, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. This year’s Volunteer Appreciation Recipient will be Roger Juan Maldonado, who during his term as the 68th President of the City Bar was an enthusiastic supporter of the organization’s Lawyer Assistance Program (LAP).

U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin will speak at the virtual event. Rep. Raskin’s strength, hope and experience on the subject of mental health are widely known.

LAP provides free, confidential services to attorneys, judges, law students and their family members in New York City who are struggling with alcohol or drug abuse, depression, anxiety and stress, as well as other addictions and mental health issues. It is the only full-service, dedicated and court-sanctioned resource available to New York City lawyers for individualized assessment, intervention, supportive counselling, peer support and monitoring during recovery and reentry into the profession.

LAP and the Lawyers Assistance Program Committee also work to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and substance-use issues in the legal profession.

Registration to the Celebration is complimentary and available here. Guests are encouraged to consider supporting the event with a tax-deductible donation to LAP at various levels or in the amount of their choosing.
