The City Bar will close at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, and will resume regular hours at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27. Happy Thanksgiving!
The Asian Affairs Committee at the New York City Bar Association covers legal and policy related developments all over Asia, including East, Southeast, South, and Central Asia. Beyond this general mandate, the committee also leads the City Bar’s efforts to maintain professional and cultural ties to China and has historically retained a particular focus on China. As a part of its missions, the committee monitors legal, economic, and political happenings, and hosts events to educate the New York legal community on current issues related to Asia. Its membership is comprised of New York lawyers with an interest in Asia, either because of having lived or worked there or because they are engaged in activities relating to one or more Asian countries.
Over the 2015-16 committee year, we hosted several visits from Chinese and Korean bar associations, wrote letters addressing various human rights issues across Asia, put on events covering current hot topics in Asia, and hosted government delegations from China.
