The “Bill of Obligations”: A Law Day Conversation with Dr. Richard Haass

Dr. Richard Haass, longtime President of the Council on Foreign Relations, discusses his just-published book The Bill of Obligations: The Ten Habits of Good Citizens, which posits that the nation needs to adopt a Bill of Obligations, responsibilities that Americans and their leaders must undertake to preserve our democracy. In conversation with Dean Gillian Lester of Columbia Law School on Law Day 2023, Dr. Haass explains what these obligations should be, how we can implement them and the risks if we don’t.
