Statement on the Passing of New York Court of Appeals Judge Paul Feinman

The New York City Bar Association mourns the passing of New York Court of Appeals Judge Paul Feinman. As the first openly gay member of the state’s highest court, Judge Feinman was a trailblazer for LGBTQ members of the legal profession. He was a longtime member of the City Bar and served on numerous committees, including the LGBTQ Rights Committee. Just last month, Judge Feinman was a judge in the final round of the City Bar’s Annual National Moot Court Competition. On behalf of our 25,000 members, the City Bar joins other organizations across the state in expressing its deep condolences to Judge Feinman’s family, friends and colleagues.
