Replacing NYS Ethics Watchdog: What Attys, Advocates Say

That raises concerns about political interference and whether JCOPE is acting in the interest of the public or the interest of the people who have appointed them,’ said Edward L. Murray, chair of the government ethics committee at the New York City Bar Association, which for years has been advocating for a reform of JCOPE and supports the proposed constitutional amendment.
