‘Not Even the Appearance of Justice’: City Bar Calls for Immigration Court System’s Removal from DOJ Auspices

Assailing what it calls the ‘inherent conflict of interest’ in housing the immigration court system within the U.S. Department of Justice, and citing a litany of alleged ‘political’ moves by the Trump administration that it says have made the problem worse, the New York City Bar Association is calling for the immigration court system to be removed from the DOJ and recreated as ‘a truly independent’ court.
