New York State Court Senior Judges Invited to Renew Certification Applications Once Governor Cuomo Signs Budget Bill

We are pleased to report that in her weekly address delivered on April 14, Chief Judge DiFiore announced that due to anticipated receipt of federal monies, the State Court’s senior judges will be able to renew their certification applications once the Governor signs the Budget bill into law. We are grateful to our Council on Judicial Administration (Michael Regan, Chair) for speaking out on this issue in a letter to court leaders and in subsequent testimony to the Assembly Judiciary Committee last year; for also raising concerns and seeking reconsideration of the plans to remove Judicial Hearing Officers; and for urging that this year’s Judiciary Budget reverse these and other measures as soon as possible.
