New York City Bar Association Announces Leadership Changes

The New York City Bar Association has announced the results of its annual election to fill its leadership positions:

Sheila S. Boston has been elected the 69th President of the City Bar. A partner at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP, Boston is a trial lawyer and litigation strategist who defends clients from initiation of the case through trial and/or settlement. At the City Bar, Boston has been a frequent speaker and served on multiple committees, including the Executive Committee as Vice President and as Secretary of the Association; as Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and of the Recruitment and Retention of Lawyers Committee; and as a member of the Nominating Committee. 

David Arroyo, BuzzFeed Inc.; Joseph Drayton, Cooley LLP; and Susan J. Kohlmann, Jenner & Block, will serve one-year terms as the City Bar’s three Vice Presidents. 

Drexel B. Harris, Reliance Insurance Company, will serve as Association Secretary, and Thomas R. Slome, of Cullen and Dykman LLP, will continue to serve as Association Treasurer. 

Marjorie Peerce, Ballard Spahr LLP, will serve as Chair, and Devika Kewalramani, Moses & Singer LLP, will serve as secretary of the Board of Directors (formerly known as the Executive Committee). 

The 2024 Class of the Board of Directors is: Sarah J. Berger, New York State Unified Court System; Jaipat S. Jain, Lazare Potter Giacovas & Moyle LLP; Hon. Tanya R. Kennedy, Supreme Court Justice, New York State Supreme Court, New York County; and Hon. Kiyo Matsumoto, U.S. District Court Judge, Eastern District of New York. 

In keeping with the City Bar’s diversity objectives, of the 22 Board members, 11 are male and 11 are female; and 59% (13 of the 22) are from historically underrepresented groups.
