‘Miranda’: More Than (or Merely?) Words

Through public events like these, as well as amicus filings and other public statements, the City Bar has been active in drawing attention to the devastating problem of false confessions. But false confessions will continue to cause wrongful convictions as long as Miranda is not used to protect against potential abuse but, instead, serves only as a rote recitation that justifies faulty investigative practices.
