Hochul announces chief judge, associate judge picks in deal that could face litigation
Reinvent Albany and Common Cause/NY recently came out against the legislation that would empower the governor to select more than one judicial nominee from the list for chief judge. The New York City Bar Association, while not opposed to the bill, urged lawmakers and the governor to ‘pause their consideration and enactment’ of it, according to a statement last week. They recommended contemplating it following the budget cycle and selection of chief judge.
