City-funded lawyers to prevent evictions would save taxpayers money, study finds

The study, done for free by the global financial advisory firm Stout Risius Ross on behalf of the New York City Bar Association’s Pro Bono and Legal Services Committee, examines a bill introduced in 2014 by City Council Members Mark Levine and Vanessa Gibson to require the city to provide a lawyer to low-income tenants facing eviction.
