City Bar Asks for 3-Month Extension for JCOPE Review
The New York City Bar Association is urging Gov. Andrew Cuomo and legislative leaders to give a commission three more months to review operations of the state Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) and recommend improvements. The bar group said Monday the ethics oversight mandate of JCOPE is so broad, and proposals to make it more effective are so complex, that the JCOPE Review Commission’s deadline for making its report should be extended from Nov. 1, 2015, to Feb. 1, 2016.
