On October 25, the New York City Bar Association presented the inaugural event in its Barbara Paul Robinson Series, which featured U.S. Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor. They engaged in a “fireside chat” moderated by Charlie Rose, with opening remarks from City Bar President John S. Kiernan.

Before a packed Meeting Hall and an additional audience watching on video screens in an overflow room, the Justices shared their perspectives on the changing landscape for civil rights, the importance of diversity on the bench, and the future of the Supreme Court.

You can read about the evening in a Washington Post article and view photos of the evening on Flickr.

The Barbara Paul Robinson Series features leaders in the law sharing their life stories to inspire others in the profession. The series is made possible by a fund established by Debevoise & Plimpton and Barbara Paul Robinson, upon her retirement. She was the firm’s first woman partner and first woman President of the New York City Bar Association.
