Attys Should Get Credit For Diversity Efforts, Task Force Says
“Legal employers should credit attorneys for the time they devote to improving the pipeline of diverse talent into the profession the same way they offer credit for pro bono work, according to a New York City Bar Association task force report released Monday. The report, titled “Sealing the Leaks: Recommendations to Diversify and Strengthen the Pipeline to the Legal Profession,” found that black and Latino students are faced with “distinct challenges” throughout their lives that result in fewer of those students choosing and pursuing a career in law, and consequently being underrepresented in law schools and in the profession.”
