Job Shadow Week

The Thurgood Marshall Job Shadow Week is part of our Thurgood Marshall Summer Law Internship Program, and allows students to shadow attorneys in organizations that most closely align with their career aspirations. Our goal is to provide students with an engaging experience that will give them a concrete understanding of the work that attorneys do on a daily basis.

The participants are high-achieving NYC students who will have spent approximately six weeks in a legal internship prior to Job Shadow Week. They have been carefully selected to participate in the program by the Student Legal Education and Opportunity Program Director through a competitive application process.

Students are sent to each site prepared, and are given observation materials that they need to complete (examples below), so they do not necessarily need an agenda planned for them. However, some sites have prepared agendas in the past (examples below).

The Thurgood Marshall Summer Law Internship Program is currently seeking Job Shadow hosts for the 2015 Job Shadow Week.
