Remote Notarization Is Here, Now: A Giant Step Forward for New York’s Notary Laws

Three committees of the New York City Bar Association identified these issues in a report submitted to the Governor after the bill was passed by both houses. The bill omitted any authorization of remote wet-ink notarization or RIN, missed some important anti-fraud protections found in other states’ notarial laws and did not authorize notaries to ‘paper-out’ documents for filing and recordation.
