New Financing from NYAG Extends Homeowner Aid

The New York Attorney General’s Office has committed $40 million to organizations providing counseling and legal services to struggling homeowners through the state’s Homeowner Protection Program. Those funds will extend the program another two years….Among the recipients are the New York Legal Assistance Group, Legal Aid Society, New York City Bar Justice Center, various offices backed by Legal Services Corporation, and many bar associations’ pro bono projects. The agencies assist families through the loan modification or foreclosure processes. They have served 12,000 families in New York City, 8,800 on Long Island and 5,000 in the Hudson Valley.
