Part One: Personnel, Terminology, and Culture of Supreme Court

In this two-part program, seasoned attorneys, judges, and court staff will provide a how-to guide from an insiders’ perspective for practicing in New York Supreme Court.
In Part One, Geography, Terminology and the Rules of the Road, the panel will offer a nuts and bolts introduction to civil practice in the Supreme Court. They will identify and discuss key differences between litigation in New York state court and federal court, basic terms and key players in the state courts, the rules of practice governing Supreme Court practice, the locations of and functions of Supreme Court offices in New York City, the mechanics of how a litigation progresses in the Supreme Court, filing papers and courtroom custom and practice.
Program Fee: $199 for Members | $299 for Nonmembers
Members who are Recent Law Graduates, Newly Admitted Lawyers (admitted for the first time in any state or country 2018-2020), In-House/Corporate Counsel, Judges, or attorneys that practice within the Government, Academic or Not-for-Profit sectors attend this program for free.
