  • In the current economy a real estate attorney needs to be familiar with more than the standard lease. Shared Workspaces, Foodhalls, and Pop-up Stores represent the “new age” of office and retail leasing. Whether representing a landlord or a tenant, the attorney needs a keen awareness of different issues involved in negotiating these “new age” leases. Foodhall agreements have unique issues which relate to the permanency and fluidity of location as well as to the mix of all vendors. Pop-up stores can be a great way for landlords to generate rent from empty retail space and also provide retailers with a means to create a buzz and to quickly and economically try a new concept or location and no matter what the use, the lease has to reflect a business deal that is consistent with the retail real estate realities of 2018 and beyond.

This CLE panel will discuss each of these growth areas and provide guidance as to issues that distinguish it from negotiating a standard lease. The program will provide drafting and negotiating techniques from both the landlord’s and tenant’s point of view. This CLE is a must for anyone who practices real estate law who wants to be current with the new trends and realities of leasing.
