  • This program will give practitioners a good basis for understanding how to identify, comply with, and litigate prevailing wage issues and laws in New York State and New York City that arise under Article 8 of the New York Labor Law. A panel of private practitioners and representatives from the New York State Department of Labor and the New York City Comptroller’s Office will present the big ticket issues to be aware of in this complicated area of the law from the perspectives of management, employees, and government enforcement.

The panel will explain how and when prevailing wage laws apply in New York State and New York City; the primary obligations on contractors and sub-contractors working on public work projects; compliance with prevailing wage laws, including an explanation of the main resources and guidelines available to contractors and sub-contractors from state and local governments; how to identify and obtain information concerning construction projects subject to prevailing wage requirements; how claims for unpaid prevailing wages are litigated and resolved, both in private actions in courts and in enforcement proceedings before administrative agencies; and damages and penalties available in prevailing wage actions.

    Program Fee:
    $199 for Members | $299 for Nonmembers
