  • This seminar will provide a broad overview of federal and state franchise laws, with an emphasis on the New York Franchise Act. The panelists will examine the elements of a franchise; how to structure a franchise system; and, alternatives to franchise arrangements, including licensing and joint ventures. The program will address disclosure requirements under the Federal Trade Commission Franchise Rule, and pre-sale registration and disclosure requirements under the New York Franchise Act and other state franchise pre-sale registration and disclosure laws, as well franchise relationship laws which may govern the relationship between the parties after they enter into the franchise relationship. Finally, the presenters will address remedies available for violations of federal and state franchise laws and other “hot topics” and legal issues affecting franchised businesses.
