This course will develop the skills relied upon by lawyers when engaged in public speaking situations – whether in a courtroom, conference room, or large auditorium. Attendees will learn how to prepare, practice and deliver a talk in an interesting way. Gain knowledge on how to effectively use relevant quotations and anecdotes (not jokes); make eye contact; and gesture like a pro.
Topics will include:
- Knowing your audience
- Determining the optimum time for various talks
- Preparing your talk with a good opening and good closing
- Delivery techniques
- How persuasive public speaking enables lawyers to “make a difference”
By learning and following time-honored techniques, you’ll no longer fear speaking to groups of any size and be known as “a tough act to follow.”
