Attorney Trust Accounts: The Basics & Beyond

  • Establishing and maintaining an Attorney Trust or IOLA bank account should not be challenging for a law firm. This CLE program is appropriate for any attorney, new or seasoned, who manages an Attorney Trust or IOLA bank account. It will explore both the practical and ethical considerations of opening and administering such an account and will provide a broad overview of  Rule 1.15, Judiciary Law § 497, UCC Article 4 and other regulatory schemes that impact such accounts. The program will provide practical advice from two professionals concerning the day-to-day operations of Attorney Trust and IOLA accounts.

    Deborah A. Scalise is an Ethics Attorney who practices in the NY metropolitan area and Larry McElroen has administered Attorney Trust and IOLA accounts on behalf of banks and their attorney customers for more than twelve years.
