Rally for the Rule of Law: Thursday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m. in Foley Square

Lawyers – and non-lawyers – will mark Law Day on May 1 by rallying in support of the rule of law and our constitutional democracy.

The rally, in Foley Square in lower Manhattan at 1:00 p.m. on May 1, is sponsored by The New York City Bar Association, The New York County Lawyers Association, The New York Council of Defense Lawyers, and many other New York bar organizations.

Participants will take this opportunity to speak out against attacks on the integrity and independence of judges, punishment of law firms and lawyers merely for representing their clients, the firing of government lawyers simply for doing their jobs, and more.

Lawyers will be invited to reaffirm the oaths they took to support the Constitution.

All are encouraged to invite their colleagues and non-lawyer friends.

As part of this effort, the New York City Bar Association is joining a “National Law Day of Action” network that is coordinating Law Day rallies in cities across the nation. See their “Core Principles” here.
