Internet Rights & Technology: Practical Legal Guide to Doing Business on the Internet

In today's technology environment, the Internet permeates all areas of the law – corporate, intellectual property, new media, monetization of ownership rights, regulatory, litigation (e.g. e-discovery) and licensing. Parties dispute licensing rights and jurisdiction. Cyber Attacks are proliferating. Data protection is a key negotiated term in all international agreements. Both the New York City Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association have issued ethics opinions on "pretexting" and "social engineering" to obtain access to a user's social network profile. This program, designed for general practice, corporate and intellectual property attorneys, will focus on the practical aspects of doing business on the Internet including the following issues: determining jurisdiction over the Internet; social media policies; practical aspects of implementing an interactive website; ethics in social media; cyber attacks; e-discovery; recent on-line case developments; privacy and data security; content licensing;
licensing disputes; CDA Section 230 immunity; and right of publicity and character protection.
