9.9.20 SDNY District Court, “Temporary Provisions for Jurors and Cellular Telephone Authorization for Jurors and Trial Participants” (20 MISC 316). In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and plans to resume jury trials, and the need to reduce unnecessary travel to protect the health of jurors, trial participants, court staff, and the public, effective September 14 through December 31, 2020, prospective jurors will be required to remain inside the courthouse for the day (or until they are advised their attendance is no longer required), the Clerk of Court is authorized to provide refreshments and/or meals to jurors, and jurors and trial participants are authorized to bring one cellular telephone into the courthouse. Cellular telephone users inside the courthouse must follow directions from court personnel regarding the use of such devices. The full order is available here.
