Young Lawyers

The City Bar has a number of programs targeted toward young lawyers and future lawyers. Lawyers Connect produces First Thursdays, a series of events tailor-made for networking.

Young Lawyers Committee

The Young Lawyers Committee organizes professional development initiatives, public service, and special outreach events. As part of this Committee, the City Bar hosts the final rounds of the National Moot Court Competition, in which students from over 150 law schools hone their appellate advocacy skills by arguing before prominent members of our profession.

Programs, Social Events & Networking

The City Bar always has a number of programs throughout the day and at night on various issues of law ranging from international human rights issues to changes in the regulation of the financial system. In addition to keeping our members informed on the various issues and changes in the legal world, the City Bar also has various social events where members can convene in a more lighthearted atmosphere.

Career Advancement

Becoming a member of the New York City Bar Association is a great way to start shaping a young lawyer's career early on. The Association has several programs created specifically for recent law school graduates. There are a number of programs held year-round aimed at providing helpful tips for applying for jobs, writing your resume and cover letter, interviewing and more.

Lawyers Connect

Responding to the challenges of being a busy young lawyer or law student, the City Bar created Lawyers Connect, a mix of live events and online programming for young attorneys, be it through age or professional experience, and law students who want to take an active role in their career. Lawyers Connect was created to help you excel in your professional life, maintain a personal life, and enjoy your legal career.
