Increased transparency has been a dominant trend in the financial services field for the past few years. The Dodd-Frank Act and the regulations subsequently adopted by the SEC and the CFTC have also resulted in a significant increase in the need for compliance specialists in the financial services industry. Financial services compliance professionals are tasked with ensuring compliance of regulatory requirements protecting the reputation of the company for which they work and leading their compliance and ethical initiatives. This panel will provide you with information on how to leverage your law degree and experience in the area of financial services compliance. Panelists and discussion leaders will share information about their day-to-day activities and the steps they took to become compliance specialists in the financial services field.

Careers in Family & Matrimonial Law

The practice of family law is multigenerational and multidimensional. This program will provide attendees with insights into the world of family law which includes foster care, adoption, custody, visitation, alternative families, juvenile justice, divorce, and elder law. Family law attorneys work in all practice settings including large and small firms, the courts, government, public interest, and educational institutions. Panelists will discuss practice and policy issues as well as career opportunities in family law. Attendees will have an opportunity to network with the panelists and other family law practitioners.

Labor and employment law encompasses a wide variety of issues such as pension plans, benefits, retirement, worker’s compensation and discrimination in the workplace. The practice of labor and employment can vary from advising businesses on how to reduce their risk of employment litigation to how to comply with state and local laws to helping protect workers when their rights are being violated. At this program, panelists will discuss what practicing labor and employment law involves, the differing career paths available, and the areas of growing opportunities.
