State Courts of Superior Jurisdiction Committee

The State Courts of Superior Jurisdiction Committee addresses issues relating to the New York State Supreme Court, the Appellate Division, the Court of Claims and the Court of Appeals, and participates in the Judiciary Committee’s evaluation of candidates for these courts.

Recent topics considered by the Committee include: preservation of electronic discovery; filing confidential information under seal; proposed amendments to the Civil Practice Law and Rules or court rules with respect to, among other things, summary judgment in lieu of complaint, expert disclosure and temporary restraining orders. The Committee has also drafted and made available to the courts and practitioners a Model Confidentiality Agreement.

The Committee has also sponsored a Breakfast Series of panel discussions on various practice areas; the panels are comprised of distinguished members of the bench and bar who offer useful practice tools. Similarly, the Committee’s Bench/Bar Forum involves a stimulating discussion of topics of interest to the profession.
