Report on Proposed Amendments to Federal Rules of Civil Procedure

SUMMARY

The Committee on Federal Courts submitted a comment supporting the following amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure: (a) the proposed amendment to Rule 4(m) that will make clear that the shortening of the time period to serve a summons and complaint (recommended in a separate, prior amendment) does not apply to service on foreign corporate entities; and (b) the proposal to amend Rule 6(d) to eliminate the provision allowing three additional days to respond to service by electronic means
