New York City Bar Association Announces Winners of the 29th Annual Legal Services Awards

The New York City Bar Association has named the recipients of the twenty-ninth Annual Legal Services Awards, which give recognition to attorneys and non-attorneys who provide full-time outstanding civil legal assistance to New York’s poor. The awards will be presented at a reception on Wednesday, June 13, at 4:00 p.m., at the Association, to which the legal services community is invited.

This year’s recipients are:

Robert Bacigalupi, Housing Works, Inc./HIV Law Project, Inc.
Jackson Chin, LatinoJustice/PRLDEF
Sergio Jimenez, Brooklyn Defender Services
Claudia Wilner, National Center for Law & Economic Justice
Fanny Chan, Mobilization for Justice

This year’s awards will be presented by Hon. Edwina G. Mendelson, Deputy Chief Administrative Judge, Justice Initiatives, and Roger Juan Maldonado, President, New York City Bar Association.

The awards are sponsored by the Committee on Pro Bono & Legal Services, chaired by Alison King and Amy P. Barasch; candidates are recommended by a subcommittee of that committee chaired by Martin Needelman and Jessica Klein, and the awards are administered by the Legal Services Awards Committee, chaired by William T. Russell, Jr. The awards have been made possible by a generous contribution from the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation.
