They are the Enemies of Reform – the small minority of state legislators who make more than $100,000 annually from outside jobs and refuse to say who is paying them to do what. Sheldon Silver was the chief Enemy of Reform – and no wonder. He successfully repelled demands for full financial disclosure because he was making millions from extortion, according to a federal criminal complaint….Even now, not one would commit to going public with a client list – even though the New York City Bar Association says such disclosure, with rare exceptions, is consistent with respect for lawyer-client confidentials.
