De Blasio Lawyer Sees Difficulty in Filling Interim Terms on Civil Court

“The effort to reduce backlogs in New York City’s courts could be bolstered by filling eight interim judicial terms in the city’s Civil Court, the chair of City Council’s Committee on Courts and Legal Services says….Applicants seeking interim appointments must complete a lengthy process that includes a screening by the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on the Judiciary, followed by an interview with the mayor. Those who obtain mayoral approval then must go through a screening before the New York City Bar Association’s Judiciary Committee, which is composed of 50 members.”
