City Bar Nominates Kiernan as Its Next President

The New York City Bar Association has nominated John S. Kiernan, a partner at Debevoise & Plimpton, as the next president of the city bar. Kiernan, who has been a partner at Debevoise since 1998, handles commercial and securities litigation, corporate governance and contract disputes. He has served as chair of the firm’s ethics committee since 1994 and co-chair of its litigation department since 2002. If elected, Kiernan would succeed Debra Raskin, a labor and employment lawyer and partner at Vladek, Raskin & Clark who assumed the post in May 2014. The 145-year-old city bar has a membership of about 24,000.
