The New York City Bar and Practicing Attorneys for Law Students Inc. (PALS) are pleased to announce a joint Law Preview Scholarship Program (www.lawpreview.com/nycbar-pals). This scholarship program will subsidize the cost for students who will be entering a New York/New Jersey law school to participate in a 6-day Law Preview law school prep course. To be eligible to become a City Bar & PALS Law Preview Scholarship recipient, applicants must (i) a member of a historically underrepresented group in the legal profession; and (ii) be enrolled to begin classes at one of the NYC area law schools in the fall of 2013.
Scholarship recipients will receive more than 45 hours of instruction from top law professors and attorneys who provide comprehensive previews of the following core first-year classes: Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Criminal Law, Property, Torts and Legal Research & Writing. Additionally, students will attend workshops that teach test-taking strategies, case briefing, time-management, outlining, note-taking and studying, as well as programs on legal careers and extracurricular programs.
In addition to the Law Preview prep course, scholarship recipients are enrolled in the PALS Program and become law student members of the New York City Bar Association.
In the scholarship program’s inaugural year, thirteen students were provided with scholarships.
We invite you to support the Law Preview Scholarship Program to help prepare diverse New York City law students and help prepare them to become leaders in the profession.
